Scenes - Sarikei State and Federal Office Complexes

At Jalan Bangunan Kerajaan (Government Buildings Road), the most prominent buildings are the Sarikei State and Federal Office Complexes (completed around 1979). They have the same look and feel as the Kuching State and Federal Office Complexes so they were likely designed by the same people.

I don't know about you but the only time I went there was to make and renew my identity cards...the previous 8-digit blue plastic IC and the current 12-digit myKad with a memory chip.

The State Office Complex is the first building fronting the the entrance while the Federal Office is the one behind the State Office Complex. These 2 mammoth buildings with no lifts were the tallest in Sarikei before the Payang Puri Hotel blocks at Berjaya Road were completed in 1982.

Does anyone know stories about the Federal Office Complex? If not, maybe I will bump into you at the State Office Complex when the Malaysia identify card undergoes another change.

Apologies for the delayed post. I was in Beijing on a business trip.

This place reminds me of a nearby playground & the long downhill slop at the exit (used to be closed) connecting to the bypass to Jalan Taiping.

Used to enjoy the "cheap" roller coaster downhill ride with my BMX. hahahaa ...
