Sarikei is relatively green (i.e. new) to the concept of of conserving our Sarawak greenery. JCI (Junior Chamber International) had a "Plant a Tree" campaign in Oct, 2010. JCI is a relatively new comer to Sarikei.

In the older days, we have groups like Boys Brigade, Girls Brigade, Joyful Vanguards (of St Anne's School), Red Cross, Red Crescent, Girls and Boys Scouts, Girl Guides ("Brownies"), etc. What other groups can you recall?

What will happen if we keep on exploiting nature?

The cause of the logjam of Rejang River in early Oct, 2010 has not been found yet. Read the report from The Star by clicking here.

Sarikei and Bintangor were saved from the logjam because the debris got diverted into the South China Sea via the Igan River at Sibu. It's a blessing but it's at the expense of the Igan River.
