Scenes: Sarikei's New Court House - Order! Order!

Sarikei District Office (old), 2005
Jalan Nyelong

When someone in Sarikei has to attend a court case, you will hear them say something like "me cha lah" in their local dialect. Sarikei is a melting pot of races and dialects so it's no surprise that the Malay word, bicara, has crept into other dialects. Don't believe this? Well, next time when you wash your hand with sabun, think again.

The Sarikei court cases were held in the old District Office at Jalan Nyelong. The original building was built in 1937 but was destroyed by fire in 1976/1977. The replacement has served well and its function is moving to a new site.

If you have any reason to go for legal proceedings to rest your case, you should be saying, "See you in court, the new one."

Nice update. I was in China and I had great fun writing down all the new "Foochow and Hokkien words" from Malaysia. Machin language as opposed to Chinglish.

Wa ai kahwin Abang. Wa adik bo lang suka. Lu mai tolong wa. Wa bo pa du li lu.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

one of sarikei's very few development. i'm still thinking that sarikei needs a vital bridge to cross rejang river to link it to tanjung manis. otherwise, sarikei will be another sri aman or kapit being by passed.
